Education day about silk
Sunil and Karin G had a very nice education day about silk weaving and how to make silk saris. It was very interesting to see how it was made from the first step with the silk worm (Sunil holds one in his hand) and then to the silk threads that we see in the back ground.

Education day about silk
Satish is a friend of Karin G and Sunil's host family and he shows how to weave silk. It's absolutely amazing how they make this beautiful silk saris. Every sari takes from one to three weeks to weave, depending on how the design is.

Gotheborg
We just loved to be on Gotheborg and didn't want to get off. The other visitors had a small walk around the ship, just a very quick visit. The Swedish group tried to stay as long as possible, smell and look and just enjoy the atmosphere.
Maria (another staff member who was responsible for the buses and harbour) said that the worst part is to make visitors disappointed. In general they have high expectations and some of them have been waiting since 5 in the morning. They have seen the ship in media and there is a lot of attention everywhere they go, but the visit on the ship is very short and they don't show more than the deck.

Finally on board Gotheborg
Anna and Karin G talks with one of the Swedish crew members. He just started his job on Gotheborg on New Years Eve and he likes it very much. He has no knowledge of sailing, but there are lots of other jobs to do on this ship. As part of the crew he has to pay 15 000 kronor and then everything is included. Food and trip.

Long line to buy tickets to Gotheborg
When we first saw this line of Indians waiting to buy ticktes (50 rupies each) we didn't understand that this was just a very short part of the line. The actual line was circling under a big roof with 5 looong rows. The Swedish staff that were there to organize the buses to the harbour said they never expected so many people. Thousands of patient interested Indians. We placed ourselves in the end and waited in the hot sun for several hours.
Some people tried to sneek in before us in the line and succeeded, since they found it to boring to wait. They didn't understand why we, who are Swedish, acceped to wait so long. We replied that we have no rights to go before anyone else. Just to make them feel a bit bad.. well it didn't help. When we finally reached the office to buy our ticktes they said it was only possible to buy for the Monday showing, no more visitors today..
Since we had been sitting 4 hours in the bus to come to Chennai and also had 4 hours back, a very nice Swedish prince called Emanuel helped us to get tickets and made us smoothly get on board Gotheborg.
So I won't really call it to use our Swedish identity, more that it would have been such a failure if we couldnt get to finally see it and the Swedish staff understood our situation.

Work place: Dustbins
This is the work place for Karin J, Justin, Jakob and Sudhakar. Every day the make 2 dustbins
that will be placed in different places in Arni. It's a friendly and nice atmosphere here and the rest of the staff is helpful. After a whole workday in the sun we had coffee in the shadow together. Only the boss is missing in this picture.

Work place: Dustbins
When the concrete mixture is ready they pour it into the big form. Then it needs to dry for at least 3 hours. After that they remove the sides of the form and a new dustbin is born. Before it can be used they water the dustbin - this to make it even stronger so it won't crack so easy.

Work place: Dustbins
Jakob is mixing the concrete, Sand, cement, water and some small stones. It takes a professional to know exactly how much of everything, but the staff at the work place tells them to add more water or sand to make the perfect structure for making a dustbin

Workplace: Dustbins
Justin is striking and paiting the form with 'tjara" (dont know the English word), so the dustbin won't stick
when it's ready.

Work Place: Dustbins
This ring goes into the concrete to keep the whole dustbin together. Its very important
that it becomes straight. That's why it's good to be four persons to hold it when they tie
the vertical bars.
